The head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt warned on Monday against Israel's infiltration of Lebanese affairs as dangerous, urging Lebanese security forces to intensify their efforts to combat this meddling.
In his weekly editorial in the Progressive Socialist Party-affiliated al-Anbaa magazine, Jumblatt pointed out that Israel's infiltration of Lebanese society through employing and recruiting spies aimed at penetrating the Lebanese internal scene has reached a very advanced stage. He warned that Israel may use its infiltration to attack Lebanon and wage a new war against it.
Addressing the discovery of petroleum off the Lebanese shore, Jumblatt stressed that Lebanon should first prove its right over it before creating such an uproar, pointing out that Israel will not watch idly by at such a discovery, but it will "as usual take advantage of internal Lebanese disputes."
