Middle East peace envoy Tony Blair has expressed "deep regret and shock" at the tragic Israeli massacre of international activists on a flotilla of ships heading to Gaza.
On Monday, the former British prime minster called for a full investigation into the matter, AFP reported.
"Once again I repeat my view that we need a different and better way of helping the people of Gaza and avoiding the hardship and tragedy that is inherent in the present situation," added the official Middle East envoy for the international quartet — the European Union, the United Nations, the United States, and Russia.
In the early hours of Monday, the Israeli military staged a deadly assault on the Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea, killing at least 20 activists and injuring about 50.
The six ships of the Freedom Flotilla had been attempting to break the siege of the Gaza Strip in order to deliver humanitarian assistance to the long-suffering people of the territory.
