Indian soldiers have opened fire in the disputed region of Kashmir and mortally wounded a Pakistani solider in the latest flare-up between the two sides.
The Pakistani army said Sunday that Indian troops opened "unprovoked" fire across the Line of Control, which divides Pakistan- and India-administered Kashmir, killing one Pakistani soldier, Reuters reported.
"Intermitting firing is continuing in the sector," the Army said in a statement, adding that Pakistan demands an immediate meeting with India.
An Indian army spokesman said that the Indian side had sustained no casualties.
"We were fired on and our troops retaliated. The exchange of fire continued for some time," he said.
The shooting incident occurred in Rawlakot near the line that divides the Himalayan region Kashmir into Pakistani and Indian control.
Two Indian soldiers were killed in the same area by cross border fire on May 18.
