Two persons were badly tortured in Al-Muthanna air base prison in Baghdad, according to the sources.
The detainees of the prison, said that they were tortured with very atrocious techniques. They were forcefully made to admit crimes , which they never did.
The alleged prisoner while describing the inflictions he underwent,showed numerous cigarette burns on his body.
One of the detainees said that “Our hands were tied and eyes covered so we couldn’t see the torturers. The informants were dictating to them that ‘This guy did this, or did that’. And he was swearing to God that this guy has performed that action,.But we were all innocent.”
The leader of the Nineveh tribes’,Fares Abdullah al-Fares said “Torture goes against human dignity. What is a man without his dignity? “. He added, saying “We ask the prime minister and minister of defence to apologize to the people of Nineveh.”
The Iraqi human rights minister, Wijdan Salim have denied the existence of ’secret’ facilities, at a press conference.
However, Salim believes that there had been many abuses reported at the prison,and the government have started investigations.
Amnesty International, a UK-based human rights group have also asked Iraqi government to begin investigations in this regard.
