On the authority of Abu Hurairah (radiallaahu 'anhu), who said the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "If any man sees someone who is put to trial and says: Al Hamdu Lillahil-ladhee 'Afanee Mimmabtalaka Bihi Wa Fadalanee 'Ala Katheerin Mimman Khalaqa Tafdeelan, he wil not be affected by that affliction, whatever it was." [At-Tirmidhi]

The definition of Al Hamdu Lillahil-ladhee 'Afanee Mimmabtalaka Bihi Wa Fadalanee 'Ala Katheerin Mimman Khalaqa Tafdeelan is: (All Praise and thanks be to Allaah, Who spared me from what he has afflicted you [with] and greatly preferred me to many of his creatures).

Salih Luhaydan mentioned a nice benefit during his class one night at the Haram in Makkah(7/2/2009). He mentioned that, "If you come across someone performing an innovation, remember to praise Allah, the Most high. Remember to praise Allah, the Most High, because he hasn't tested you with that innovation."

He also mentioned that, "No one is safe from misguidance. So remember to constantly ask Allah to keep you on the straight path."

A du'aa that he mentioned pertaining to this is:

"Oh turner of the hearts (Allah, the Most High), keep our hearts firm on your religion"
