What the Youth to do?

Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) (Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to us: 0 young men, those among you who can support a wife should marry, for it restrains eyes (from casting evil glances) and preserves one from immorality; but he who cannot afford It should observe fast for it is a means of controlling the sexual desire.

Sahih Muslim: 8: 3233

Assalamu alaikum Dear Viewers,

We often find people (muslims) saying "When Allah will wish, He will give me guidance. until He Doesn't wish, how I can get the guidance. When He will descend his Taufeeq (decisive power decsended by Allah that make a person succeed in doing a particular task) upon me, I will pay Salah, I will observe Saum, I will observe beard, I will....., I will...."

Whenver they are asked, they have the same reply. The proof?

A lot of ayaah from the Qur'an like Soorah Ibrahim: 4, Soorah Nahl: 93, Soorah Fatir: 8, Soorah Zumar: 23, Soorah Muddathir: 31. For sample:-

(Soorah Rad: 27)

(And those who disbelieved, said: Why didn't descend an ayah upon him[Nabi salla allahu alaihi wa sallam] from his Lord. You say to them: Verily Allah misguides whom He wishes and guides towards Him who submits [towards Him])

"Yuzillu man yyashaa'u" (misguides whom He wishes) - This is the mantra they have crammed!

O you who believe! Do not render in vain your Sadaqah (charity) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men, and he does not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day. His likeness is the likeness of a smooth rock on which is a soil; on it falls heavy rain which leaves it bare. They are not able to do anything with what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.

(Soorah Baqarah: 264)

In this ayah, Allah sub'han wa t'ala is indicating us the reason why a person does not attain steadfastness in any deed. Deeds are of two types:-

1. Those done as Islamic deeds so that one may receive on the day of Qiyamah.

2. Those done to gain worldly affairs.

In 1911, John Elfreth Watkins wrote this article in which he predicted what will happen in next 100 years. Well! some of his blind shots hit the target. But here's what happened to others...

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, "Every child is born on the fitrah (natural inclination) of Islam (submission to God in peace) and it is their parents who raise them up to be Jews, Christians or fireworshippers".

Read this fasinating article from a non-Muslim scientist, Dr. Barrett and then think about what Islam teaches on this topic. Children are born believers in God, academic claims. Children are "born believers" in God and do not simply acquire religious beliefs through indoctrination, according to an academic. Dr. Barrett: "If we threw a handful (of kids) on an island and they raised themselves I think they would believe in God."

The Order to be Mindful in Speech

Imam Malik related to me from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn 'Alqama(Radiyallahu Anhu) from his father from Bilal ibn al-Harith al-Muzani(Radiyallahu Anhu) that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A man says what is pleasing to Allah and he does not suspect that it will have the result that it does, and Allah will write for him His good pleasure for it until the day when he meets Him. And a man says what excites the wrath of Allah and he does not suspect that it will have the result that it does, and Allah will write His wrath for him for it until the day when he meets Him." {Narrated by Imam Bukhari,Imam Muslim}

Malik related to me from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar that Abu Salih as-Samman informed him that Abu Hurayra(Radiyallahu Anhu) said,

"Truly a man utters words to which he attaches no importance, and by them he falls into the Fire of Jahannam, and

truly a man utters words to which he attaches no importance, and by them Allah raises him into the Garden." {Narrated by Imam Bukhari}

Due to obvious reasons we are more inclined to befriend like-minded individuals. Someone who’s there for us when we need them, someone who empathises with us when we’re stressed out, someone who understands us and thinks in the same way that we do, this is the basic criteria of choosing a friend. So if we have friends whom our parents don’t approve of, friends who behave in a shameless and immoral manner, friends who break all the limits ordained by Allah (swt), what does this reveal about us?

Human nature is imitation; we automatically subconsciously copy the actions of those who are around us. In other words those who have a close friendship with people who are immoral or evil will be negatively affected by them. This effect does not appear suddenly, but is a gradual process that unfolds with time. If one believes that they will be able to remain indifferent around immoral people, then they are only deluding their own selves. Social pressure is an incredibly powerful force. It works by appealing to our desire not to be insulted, ridiculed, or criticised and instills in us a strong desire to fit in and feel accepted.

The Prophet (saw) likened good and bad company: bad company is like standing next to a furnace. Although you do not get burnt, the smoke comes onto you and others can smell the offensive odour on you. Similarly, keeping good company is like standing in a perfume shop, although you may not be wearing any perfume, other people will be able to smell the scent on you.

Traditionally it has been said that one should “not inquire about a man, but should observe his companions, for indeed one companion imitates the other”. Our Holy Prophet (saw) has said “A man takes on the religion of his companions”. The company of a person who delays or neglects prayer, is disrespectful to his parents or is promiscuous drags others into his way of life. On the other hand one takes on the praiseworthy characteristics of pious friends who can be a great source of help and support to leading a righteous life, as principled and morally conscious individuals.

No, she's not Diana Hayden nor is she Sushmita Sen,
Not even Aishwarya Rai, Who is this girl then?

No, she does not flash her legs nor walk down the aisle semi-nude
For her such things are unthinkable, sacrilegious and downright rude

Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss "Anything", She does not aspire to be
She shuns all kinds of publicity in privacy she would rather be

Never in a swimming costume will she for a camera pose
Yes, she's the 'girl in hijaab' more beautiful than a rose!
